The Story

Based on a story written by 13 different authors working under the pseudonym of Theo Durant, the story is about a small town doctor who leads a search for his missing daughter who has supposedly been buried alive by a mad psycho (is there another kind?). There are a couple of murders, a nice plot twist, an alterior motive, and the rest is classic horror film. This film was William Castle's first thriller as a independent producer. While not available on tape it is worth seeing if you can. Some nice clips are available on YouTube.

The Gimmick

Included with the price of admission, each movie goer was insured by Lloyds of London for $1,000 against "Death-by-Fright". When you purchased your ticket you signed a legal document, and you were now insured.

No one ever collected on the insurance policy.
